Why Do So Many Internet Businesses Fail?

Every day millions of people wake up to an alarm clock, drag themselves from their warm beds, and head off to work. And every one of them knows or has heard of somebody who has quit their job and is now making a very good living by working on their Internet business from the comfort of their own homes. Working from home sounds like heaven to these job holders. Thinking the grass is greener on the other side, some of these people will quit their jobs and jump head-first into Internet marketing.

BUT, Internet marketing is much harder than it looks. And unfortunately, many products launch every day that give the impression that it is easy to make thousands of dollars in just a few short weeks.

However, studies have shown that 90% of all Internet businesses will fail within the first 120 days and another 5% will eventually fail. This is because these Internet marketer wannabes have no preparation, no knowledge of what they are doing, no education, and therefore, no hope of success. They think all they need to do is build a website, throw up a product to sell and the money will start rolling in. Failure is their only option and they don’t even suspect it.

People start an Internet business thinking they will no longer have to get up and go to work. They think they can work only when they want to and still make a good living. They simply do not expect to have to work hard or work long hours. They have no idea how to drive traffic to their site(s) or how to convert these visitors into paying customers. And, when they realize it is not as easy as they thought and do not make any money within the first couple of months, they quit.

Most people wouldn’t even think of starting a brick and mortar business because they know nothing about running a business. But these same people think they can build a successful Internet business even though they have no business background at all.

Of course, success is possible. 5% of Internet businesses do succeed. However, success doesn’t just happen. Those who start successful Internet businesses have the right ideas about what Internet marketing is and how it works. They do not expect to get rich quick or be able to make a million dollars overnight and retire to a tropical isle for the rest of their life.

If you want to succeed, remember that quitters never win and winners never quit!

So, You Want To Be An Internet Marketer?

You’ve read loads of stuff telling you that you can make tons of money practically overnight with barely any effort on your part. You know that you will be an instant success and you’re more than ready to adopt the Internet lifestyle. You envision yourself lying on a beach on some exotic tropical isle, sipping Pina Coladas as the money rolls in.

Well, I hate to burst you bubble but if it was that easy, don’t you think everyone would be an Internet marketer and everyone would be insanely rich? Sorry to say, life just doesn’t work that way. • You will need to develop the characteristics of an entrepreneur;
• You will need to change your mindset from employee to entrepreneur;
• You will need to follow the principles that lead to success;
• You will need to learn how to set up plans in order to reach your goals;
• You will need to learn how to leverage your resources;
• You will need to learn how to increase your credibility;
• You will need to build a list of contacts;
• You may want to find a mentor in order to shorten your learning curve;
• You’ll need to manage your time;
• You’ll especially need to stop procrastinating;
• You’ll need to stay motivated even if your efforts seem worthless;
• You will need to train yourself to work on your Internet business even if it means giving up time you would rather spend doing other things;
• You will need to stop purchasing every new “get rich quick” e-book and/or program that comes along;
• You will need to overcome information overload;
• And most importantly, you will need to take action.
